There are pros and cons to using Apple’s Software Update. As a rule, I recommend turning it OFF. Think about it – if your Mac is running fine, why risk any kind of update? If your Mac is having problems, your chances of an update making things worse instead of better are substantial. I take care of all the updates as part of a yearly tune-up. And if you are having problems, give me a call and chances are your Mac needs a little help and then, once it is running well, all the updates can be run: Apple, Adobe, Microsoft and all the others. Just say NO when your computer asks you if you want to install an update. If you are not sure, just give me a call.
